Important to know
Since September 1, 2021 (HB 1927, Firearm Carry Act of 2021), Texas is a permitless (constitutional) carry state. Any person 21+ who can legally possess a firearm may carry concealed or openly without a license. The LTC remains optional but is useful for carry reciprocity in other states, faster NICS checks when purchasing firearms, and carrying in some locations that otherwise restrict unlicensed carry.
