Accessibility Statement

Many of the veterans VetUnlock serves live with a disability. The site has to work for all of them.

Our goal

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, the standard most widely used for web accessibility in the United States.

What we do

  • Every page and the eligibility tool can be used with a keyboard alone, with a “Skip to main content” link at the top.
  • Form fields have labels, selected options are announced to screen readers, and errors are announced when they appear.
  • Text and controls meet WCAG contrast requirements in both light and dark themes.
  • Animations are turned off when your device is set to reduce motion.
  • The interactive state map works with a keyboard and screen reader, and on small screens it’s shown as a plain list of states.
  • We check pages with automated accessibility testing (axe) and manual keyboard testing when we make changes.

Known limitations

  • Adsare supplied by Google AdSense and we don’t control their content. If an ad gets in your way, please tell us which page it was on.
  • Government and partner websites we link to, including application forms and PDFs, are run by others and may not be fully accessible. Your state or county veterans service office can help with those applications.
