Eligibility

Colorado resident veteran receiving VA compensation for a 50% or greater disability rating, loss of use of one or both hands/feet, or permanent vision loss in both eyes; OR Purple Heart Award recipient. Veterans with a current Disabled Veterans or Purple Heart Colorado license plate get automatic free entry (veteran must be present in vehicle).

Covers

Independence Pass — free, unlimited annual access to all Colorado state parks. Pass holders age 64+ also receive a $3 camping discount per night Sunday through Thursday (excludes weekends, holidays, cabins, and yurts). Standard license plate holders get free entry only (no camping discount).

How to apply

Automatic with qualifying Disabled Veteran or Purple Heart license plate, or obtain Independence Pass at any CPW office or state park with Purple Heart Certificate or DD-214.
