Why Florida Is a Top State for Veterans

Florida is one of the most veteran-friendly states in the country. With no state income tax, generous property tax exemptions, strong education benefits, and a large veteran community, it is no surprise that Florida has the third-largest veteran population in the nation.

Property Tax Exemptions

Florida offers several levels of property tax relief for veterans:

• 100% permanently and totally (P&T) disabled veterans receive a full property tax exemption on their homestead. This applies to the full assessed value of the home.
• Veterans with a 10% or higher rating receive a $5,000 reduction in assessed value of their homestead.
