Details

Eligibility

VA-certified disability rating of 50%+, OR loss of use of a foot or leg, AND receiving compensation from the U.S. for the disability. Available to BOTH residents and non-residents — Texas residency is NOT required.

Covers

Disabled Veteran Super Combo: hunting and all-water fishing licenses plus 5 endorsements (archery, freshwater, saltwater with red drum tag, upland game bird, migratory game bird). Normally costs $68/year for civilians.

Not included

Federal Duck Stamp (required separately for waterfowl hunting).

How to apply

Available IN PERSON ONLY (no online purchase) at any Texas hunting/fishing license retailer (Walmart, Academy, etc.) or TPWD office. Bring VA disability proof issued within the last 12 months OR a Texas Driver License with the "Disabled Veteran" designation.

Renews

Annually; remains free as long as you maintain qualifying status.
