Eligibility
Honorably discharged veteran, or spouse/widow/widower of a veteran, when the estate or immediate family lacks funds to cover expenses. Veteran must have been a U.S. citizen and SD resident for one year before military service or one year before death. Application must be submitted by a county/tribal VSO within one year of burial. Per SDCL 33A-5-2.
