Eligibility

Veterans, dependents of veterans, and other qualifying individuals who meet the federal definition of a "covered individual" under 38 U.S.C. § 3679. The person's home must be located in North Carolina, and they must submit a letter of intent to establish NC residence. Applicant bears the burden of proof to demonstrate eligibility.

Covers

Eligible individuals are charged the in-state tuition rate and applicable mandatory fees for enrollment, without satisfying the 12-month residency requirement, to the extent required by 38 U.S.C. § 3679.

How to apply

Apply through the admissions/registrar office of the NC public college or university. Provide DD-214 and proof of NC residence (letter of intent).
