Eligibility
Veteran who (1) lost or lost use of a leg, arm, or hand; (2) is blind; or (3) is permanently and totally disabled as certified by the VA. One set of plates per qualifying veteran.
Covers
Free special Disabled Veteran license plates AND no annual registration fee for one personally owned vehicle. Registration fees in Virginia are typically $30.75-$51.75/year.
Note
Veterans with any level of service-connected disability can also purchase DV plates for a $10 fee but must pay standard registration fees.
