Details
Eligibility
Must have a VA disability rating of 30-49%. Must own and occupy the property as your homestead.
Exemption
$7,500 is deducted from the assessed value of your home for property tax purposes.
How to apply
File at your county appraisal district office with your VA rating letter. If you previously had a lower exemption, file an updated application when your rating increases.
Note
Veterans age 65+ with a 10%+ disability rating, those who are totally blind, or those who have lost use of one or more limbs from a service-connected injury qualify for the maximum $12,000 exemption regardless of disability rating percentage.
