Eligibility
Veteran with DD-214 or Statement of Service documentation. Veterans receive interview preference for appointments and promotions. If a supervisor selects a non-veteran over an eligible veteran, reasons must be documented in writing. 60 months of additional credit toward time of service in layoff (reduction in force) situations.
Spousal preference (guaranteed interview if qualified) available for non-remarried spouses of veterans who have a 100% service-connected disability (or are permanently and totally disabled) or who died in the line of duty; spouse must meet Tennessee residency requirements.
