Eligibility
Honorable discharge from qualifying military service. Must be eligible for VA per diem payment for domiciliary or nursing home care in a state home; veterans domiciled in SD within the past five years receive admission preference. Income must not exceed $1,000 above the VA Pension rate. Spouses must have been married and living together with the veteran for at least one year before application. Surviving spouses must be at least 60 years old and have been married to the veteran for at least one year before death.
