About this benefit
Eligibility
Must be a veteran who is homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness. Must be a New Jersey resident (or willing to establish residency). Any discharge status may be considered. Substance abuse and mental health issues do not disqualify applicants โ treatment services are provided on-site.
Covers
Transitional housing with supportive services including substance abuse counseling, mental health services, employment assistance, life skills training, and case management. Program duration is up to 2 years. Two facilities: Veterans Haven North (Lebanon Township, Hunterdon County) and Veterans Haven South (Winslow Township, Camden County).
How to apply
Contact the NJ Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMAVA) at 1-888-865-8387 or apply through a local VA Medical Center social worker. Walk-in referrals may also be accepted. Priority is given to veterans with the greatest need.
