Who is eligible
Eligibility
U.S. citizen, separated under honorable conditions, served more than 180 consecutive days of active federal military duty (other than training). Also extends to certain Montana National Guard members with 6+ years service (last 3 in Montana), disabled veterans, spouses of disabled veterans, surviving spouses, and mothers of deceased or permanently disabled veterans.
When a public employer uses a scored procedure, eligible veterans get 5 percentage points added; disabled veterans and eligible relatives get 10 percentage points.
Retention preference during reductions in force. Applying is voluntary and confidential.
