Eligibility
Surviving spouse or child (less than age 25; coverage continues through the semester in which the child turns 25 or until receipt of a first bachelor's degree, whichever occurs first) of a veteran who served on active duty on/after Sept. 11, 2001, in a period of armed conflict, and died or became 80%+ disabled as a result of combat. Veteran must have received combat pay tax exclusion, hazardous duty, imminent danger, or hostile fire pay. Veteran must have been a Missouri resident when first entering military or at time of death/injury.
Covers tuition (lesser of actual tuition charged or the University of Missouri-Columbia in-state rate for the same number of hours), up to $2,000/semester for room and board, and the lesser of actual book cost or $500/semester for books. Renewal students must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
Total number of grants is limited by statute to 25 per year statewide.
