Eligibility
Served 90+ days of active duty (not active duty for training). Discharged under honorable conditions. Louisiana resident (residency not required if referred from in-state VA Medical Center or by LDVA counselor). Spouses, Gold Star parents, and eligible National Guard/Reservists are also eligible for admission.
Covers
Long-term and short-term care, skilled nursing, rehabilitative therapies, Alzheimer's/intermediate care, mental health services. Five locations: Jackson (Louisiana Veterans Home), Monroe (Northeast), Bossier City (Northwest), Reserve (Southeast), and Jennings (Southwest).
Costs
Veterans rated 70%+ may live free; veterans rated below 70% pay approximately $2,424/month (may be offset by federal aid and attendance pension); spouses, Gold Star parents, and eligible Guard/Reservists pay approximately $5,500/month. Medications are free for veterans with 50%+ service-connected disability rating.
