Overview

Eligibility (per KRS 18A.150): Veterans who served in an active or reserve component of the U.S. Armed Forces and received Honorable or General (Under Honorable Conditions) discharge; currently serving active or reserve component members; spouses of eligible veterans or current service members; unremarried surviving spouses of deceased veterans; and dependent parents of disabled or deceased veterans. Wartime service is not required. Must meet minimum requirements for the position. Applies only to initial appointment to competitive classified positions.

Prior to making an appointment, the agency must offer an interview to at least five external candidates with Interview Preference (not a point-based scoring advantage) for state and local government competitive classified positions.
