Details

Eligibility

Child of an Iowa veteran killed in action after September 11, 2001. Must begin postsecondary education prior to reaching age 26. Must maintain academic progress standards at the chosen postsecondary institution.

Covers

Annual assistance up to the highest resident undergraduate tuition rate at an Iowa Board of Regents institution (recently approximately $11,844/year), less any state/federal education benefits, grants, or scholarships received, or the child's established financial need, whichever is less. Lifetime cap = 5x the highest annual Regents resident undergraduate tuition rate. Funds may be used for tuition, books, fees, housing, required tools/equipment, school-approved tutoring, and other required educational expenses at any postsecondary educational institution in Iowa.

Pre-9/11 KIA dependents may receive $600/year (max $3,000 lifetime) under a separate program.
