Eligibility

Honorably discharged veteran who meets one of: served during a recognized war period or in a hostile fire environment with a campaign/expeditionary medal; was retired due to service-connected disability; completed 24+ months of continuous active duty (if enlisted after September 7, 1980); or served as Reservist/National Guard with federal activation or 20 years of satisfactory service. Must have been an Illinois resident for at least 1 year prior to application, and incapable of earning a living because of disability. Surviving spouses (widows/widowers) of honorably discharged veterans may be admitted to the Anna and Quincy homes if beds are available.

Cost

$1,720/month maintenance charge (as of June 2025), with residents contributing based on monthly income. Veterans with a 70-100% USDVA service-connected disability rating do NOT pay a monthly maintenance charge. Aid & Attendance allowance recipients pay an additional charge matching their allowance. Inability to contribute does not prevent admission.
