Who is eligible
Eligibility
Honorably discharged veteran requiring skilled nursing care who served at least 1 day of active duty (active duty for training does not qualify) and who has service credited to Illinois or has resided in Illinois for at least 1 year before application. Surviving spouses (widows/widowers) of honorably discharged veterans may be admitted to the Anna and Quincy homes if beds are available.
What Illinois Veterans' Homes covers
Cost
$1,720/month maintenance charge (as of June 2025), with residents contributing based on monthly income. Veterans with a 70-100% USDVA service-connected disability rating do NOT pay a monthly maintenance charge. Aid & Attendance allowance recipients pay an additional charge matching their allowance. Inability to contribute does not prevent admission.
