Details

Eligibility

Veteran certified eligible by the USDVA for the federal Specially Adapted Housing (SAH) Grant; must have been an Illinois resident at the time of entering service.

Covers

A single lump-sum state grant not to exceed $15,000 to assist in acquiring a suitable dwelling with special fixtures and/or movable facilities. Additionally, eligible veterans may receive a state grant of up to $3,000 to help pay remodeling costs not fully covered by the federal SAH grant (the IDVA grant covers only the remaining out-of-pocket remodeling cost).
