Overview

Eligibility (plates): Honorably discharged veteran; vehicle must be currently registered in CT with permanent registration. Plates available for specific wartime periods (Afghanistan, Iraq, Korea, Vietnam, WWII, etc.), Purple Heart recipients, Medal of Honor recipients, former POWs, and Gold Star Families.

Eligibility (DMV fee waiver): Veterans who were CT residents at induction and apply within 2 years of honorable discharge.

Covers

Medal of Honor recipients and former POWs receive 2 free sets of plates and special registration certificates. Gold Star Family plates are free. DMV fee waiver covers operator's license and examination fees for one licensing period.

Submit Special Order Veteran Plate Application (Form M-46) to CT DMV.
