Who is eligible

Eligibility

Veterans age 55+ who served on active duty (any era — no wartime requirement for basic eligibility), discharged under conditions other than dishonorable. Must be a California resident at time of application. Must be covered under a medical insurance policy. Age requirement waived for disabled or homeless veterans needing care.

Family eligibility

Eligible spouses, domestic partners, AND Gold Star parents may also qualify.

Wartime service, Medal of Honor, ex-POW, homeless, or 70%+ service-connected disability give priority.

Covers

Affordable long-term care ranging from independent living to assisted living, 24/7 skilled nursing, and dedicated memory care/dementia units. Costs are subsidized and well below market rates.

Locations (8): Chula Vista, Fresno, Lancaster, Ventura, West Los Angeles, Redding, Yountville, and Barstow.
