Eligibility
5 points for honorably discharged veterans who served at least 90 days of active duty. 10 points for veterans with a VA service-connected disability rating of 10% or more. Spouses and surviving spouses of certain disabled/deceased veterans may also receive the 10-point preference.
How it works
Points are added to your score on Alabama state classified service employment registers. Veterans receive preference over non-veterans with the same ratings. When reductions in force are being made, employees eligible for veterans preference must be the last to be discharged, dropped, reduced in rank or salary.
