Veteran with a service-connected disability. Disabled veterans are not required to obtain a distinctive license plate to claim the registration fee exemption.
Covers
Exemption from privilege/license tax and registration fees. For veterans with 10%-50% disability, the first plate is exempt from registration fees; subsequent plates require full fees. For veterans with 51%+ disability or vehicles with special mechanical controls, the first plate is exempt; subsequent plates cost $5/year.
