Overview
Eligibility tiers (length of award):
- Spouse/un-remarried widow(er) of 100% P&T disabled veteran: 5 academic years (10 semesters).
- Spouse/un-remarried widow(er) of 40%-90% disabled veteran: 3 academic years (6 semesters).
- Children/stepchildren of qualifying disabled veterans: 5 academic years (10 semesters) at any MS state-supported institution of higher learning, or a prescribed course of study at any state-supported technical college (undergraduate, in-state tuition rate).
Veteran requirements
Honorable discharge, 90+ consecutive days active duty.
Dependents must remain the legal dependent of the qualifying veteran; eligibility ends on the date of divorce.
For applications postmarked on or after July 1, 2024, tuition is limited to the federal Department of Defense Tuition Assistance Cap, and required textbooks and applicable fees are limited to a combined $2,000 total per student per semester.
Covers tuition at Mississippi state-supported institutions of higher learning, technical colleges, and vocational schools.
