Eligibility
Kansas resident who is a disabled veteran (50%+ VA rating) or surviving spouse of a qualifying claimant (other qualifying paths include age 55+, blind/permanently and totally disabled, or having a dependent child under 18). Household income must be $43,389 or less for tax year 2025. Homestead appraised value must be $350,000 or less. Must own and occupy a Kansas homestead.
Covers
Refund of a portion of property taxes paid on the homestead, up to $700 maximum. This is a separate program from K-40SVR and K-40PT/SAFESR; a claimant may only claim one homestead refund program per year. Kansas DOR software automatically generates the largest refund the claimant qualifies for.

File Form K-40H with the Kansas Department of Revenue.
