About this benefit
Eligibility
Must have served at least 90 days. Must have a service-connected disability of at least 50%. The homestead must have been conveyed at no cost by an organization exempt from federal income tax (e.g., Habitat for Humanity, Homes for Our Troops). Honorable discharge required. Cannot combine with standard wartime or over-62 deductions.
Deduction
Equals the veteran's VA disability percentage applied to assessed value. A 70% rated veteran with a $200,000 home gets a $140,000 deduction.
