Overview
Eligibility (per 35 ILCS 200/15-169): Illinois resident veteran with a USDVA-certified service-connected disability of at least 50% but less than 70%; must own or lease and occupy a single-family residence as primary residence and be liable for payment of property taxes. The property's total EAV must be less than $250,000 after subtracting any portion used for commercial purposes.

$5,000 annual reduction in Equalized Assessed Value (EAV).
Filing
Form PTAX-342 must be filed each year by July 1 with your Chief County Assessment Office.
Surviving spouses
Un-remarried surviving spouses of qualifying deceased veterans may continue or transfer the exemption.
