About this benefit
Eligibility
Veterans with a combined service-connected evaluation rating of 80% or higher, OR a total disability rating for a service-connected disability. Must own and occupy the property as a primary residence in Washington. Must meet income thresholds (Income Threshold 3, varies by county). Honorable discharge required. VA disability compensation and DIC are excluded from disposable income.
Note
Per 2025 legislation effective July 27, 2025, the disability threshold drops from 80% to 40% beginning with taxes due in 2027.
