Details

Eligibility

100% service-connected, permanent and total disability rating from the VA. Vehicle must be a passenger car or pickup/panel truck registered for personal use. Owned (not leased) by the veteran or spouse. Virginia resident.

Note

Exemption expires upon the veteran's death and does NOT transfer to the surviving spouse (per Va. Code § 58.1-3668). This contrasts with the real-property exemption (§ 58.1-3219.5), which does carry over to surviving spouses.
