Eligibility

Veteran must have loss or loss of use of both lower extremities (paraplegic), per SDCL 10-4-24.10. Property must be a dwelling specifically designed for wheelchair use. Dwelling must be owned and occupied by the veteran for one full calendar year before the exemption takes effect. Honorable discharge required. SD resident. Same exemption applies to the unremarried widow or widower of such a veteran.
