Eligibility categories
- Category 4V: Veteran receiving VA compensation for 100% service-connected permanent and total disability, or individually unemployable paid at 100%. No income limit, no homestead value limit. 100% exemption.
- Category 4S: Veteran drawing VA compensation for 100% service-connected TEMPORARY disability (not surviving spouse). No income limit, no value limit. 100% exemption.
- Category 5: Veteran (paraplegic or multiple amputations) whose home was substantially contributed to by the VA. No income limit, no value limit. 100% exemption.
- Category 7: Unremarried surviving spouse of veteran who died during active service or from service-connected condition. No income limit, no value limit. 100% exemption.
- Categories 1, 2, 3, 6: Veteran totally disabled (service or nonservice-connected). Income limits apply on a sliding scale.
Residency
Must own and occupy the homestead from January 1 through August 15 of the tax year.
Application window
February 2 through June 30 each year.
