Overview

Eligibility (AR Code 26-3-306): A disabled veteran who has been awarded VA Special Monthly Compensation (SMC) for the loss of, or loss of use of, one or more limbs, OR for total blindness in one or both eyes, OR has a service-connected 100% total and permanent disability. Upon the veteran's death, the exemption extends to the unmarried surviving spouse and minor dependent children; spouse and minor children are also eligible if the member is killed within the scope of military duties or declared missing in action.
